Getting Started

Do I need a doctor’s referral/prescription?

In New York State, you have “Direct Access” to physical therapy, meaning you can often start treatment without seeing a doctor first for up to 10 visits or 30 days. However, some insurance plans still require a referral.

  • Recommendation: We recommend bringing a prescription if you have one, but it is not always mandatory. Call us, and we can check your specific plan rules for you.

How do I know if physical therapy will help me?

If you are experiencing pain, stiffness, or limited movement that affects your daily life, physical therapy is likely a great solution. Our therapists are experts in body mechanics. We evaluate your unique condition to identify the cause of the pain, not just the symptoms.

Can I choose my own physical therapy clinic?

Yes! Even if your doctor recommends a specific clinic, you have the legal right to choose where you go for treatment. At CT Physical Therapy Care, we pride ourselves on providing a positive environment and distinct “Level of Care” that you won’t find everywhere else.
